The Threads of Odisha
Sambalpuri Ikat
Known for its mesmerizing "Bandhakala" tie-dye technique. The yarns are mathematically tied and dyed before weaving to create stunning, mirrored motifs of conch shells, lotuses, and wheels.
Bomkai
Originating from the village of Bomkai in Ganjam, this weave features intricate threadwork (extra weft) on the pallu, often depicting elements of nature and tribal art on a contrasting border.
Khandua
Traditionally offered to Lord Jagannath at Puri, Khandua silks are woven in Nuapatna. They are celebrated for their incredibly lightweight texture and auspicious elephant and lotus motifs.
